About Dr. Gonzalez:

Dr. Rhodora M. GonzalezDr. Rhodora M. Gonzalez is Associate Professor in the Department of Geodetic Engineering, College of Engineering, UP Diliman. She received here Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree on GIS Theory and Applications in Natural Resource Management from the ITC – Wageningen University, The Netherlands in 2000. She also obtained her Master of Science degree on GIS for Rural Applications in the same university in 1994. Dr. Gonzalez is a graduate of the BS Geodetic Engineering program of UP Diliman in 1980.

Presently, Dr. Gonzalez is teaching GIS and remote sensing principles and applications to graduate and undergraduate students, supervising thesis research, and conducting training and research on GIS and remote sensing. Her research interests include participatory GIS, remote sensing, and geosimulation for natural resource management and disaster preparedness.  Dr. Gonzalez has been working on the following research areas: GIS and remote sensing in community-based landslide risk monitoring and mitigation (Baguio City); GIS, remote sensing, and Shannon’s Entropy in measuring urban sprawl in a mountainous environment (Baguio City); and GIS and remote sensing in monitoring and managing reservoir watershed (Magat Watershed).
